About us

Nachtvlinder BV is a real family business. Together with daughter Ellen Akerboom, Peter and Gerda Akerboom are engaged in the breeding of various crops. In 1980 Peter Akerboom started breeding Asters for cutflowers. Nowadays the Asters are our specialty next to Helleborus. Our varieties are grown worldwide in places such as Kenya, Zimbabwe and Ecuador. Visit www.asters.nl for more information.

In 1997 we started breeding Helleborus. Because we had little work in our Asters in the winter months, Helleborus fit nicely into our cultivation plan. Meanwhile, this hobby that got out of hand has become an important product at our nursery.

Besides breeding, the nursery Zomervlinder is also located at the same location. Here, in over a hectare of greenhouse, asters are grown for cutflower. These are all sold through Floraholland Auction location Aalsmeer.
